The Garmin Forerunner 245 and Forerunner 245 Music represent the latest iteration of Garmin’s most popular GPS running smartwatches. Both variants introduce powerful analytics features designed to help runners take control of their training and improve with the confidence of scientifically personalized insight into their activities. The Forerunner 245 Music adds the ability to store and play up to 500 songs.
Fitness tracking takes a step forward on the Forerunner 245 series. Firstbeat’s 6th generation VO2max analytics intelligently recognize and account for the influence heat, humidity and altitude have on your performance. This means better, more reliable fitness data in increasingly challenging conditions and more meaningful insight across other features that rely on this information.
Premium training insights like Training Load and Training Status, previously only available on Garmin’s high-end Forerunner 935, Forerunner 645 and Fenix 5 series, are now available on the Forerunner 245 series for a broader audience. Together these features combine to help ensure you are active enough to achieve your goals and interpret progress from the perspective of continuously improving fitness. You can easily and instantly see when there is an opportunity to push yourself harder and when excessive strain is increasing risk of injury or burnout. You will also gain insight that can guide your efforts towards peaking for a big race.
During runs and other workouts you record with the Forerunner 245 series watch, you have access to a number of valuable real-time training insights. This means you can tune your current effort to achieve specific goals and training outcomes. These insights come in the form of Aerobic and Anaerobic Training Effect scores that reflect how your current workout will influence the development of future performance capacity. Training Effect scores (0.0 – 5.0) tell you when a workout has little-to-no effect, maintains your current level, improves or highly improves your fitness, and when you’ve pushed yourself into overload.
Out for a run with your Forerunner 245? Keep track of how today’s performance compares to your historical baseline by adding the Performance Condition data screen.
Better fitness and personal well-being are about more than just your workouts. The Garmin Forerunner 245 and 245 Music also feature 24/7 stress monitoring. All-day Stress tracking is based on a scientific analysis of heart rate variability that reveals activity within the sympathetic (fight-or-flight) and parasympathetic (rest-and-digest) branches of your autonomic nervous system. You can see for yourself how your body responds to the challenges of life and environment.
Physical activity, stress, recovery, and the restorative power of sleep all come together in a single place with Body Battery. This feature provides the insight you need to thrive. You can manage your energy levels, see when you are ready to benefit from a challenge and when taking it easy and resting up might be the best option. Together All-day Stress and Body Battery Over time the feedback you receive will help you make better choices and lifestyle decisions based on what works best for you.
