Marco Ramondino, head coach: “When managing a group of professional athletes I believe it is increasingly important to use data to support the decisions for programming and managing load to reduce, if not eliminate, the “gut” decisions. It is essential to plan training in a functional way, modulating the work to make it more and more similar to what happens during the game. Firstbeat allows us to be better coaches and helps us to support and refute our decisions with data. In turn, this also increases the credibility of all the staff amongst the athletes.”

Gianluca Mazzoncini, first team physical coach:“In basketball it is important to evaluate both the recovery of the players and to know the range of possibilities available to improve the work in terms of the number of workouts and performance of each individual athlete. Firstbeat Sports is a tool that allows you to find the best compromise for the team. Thanks to the Club we have implemented the system by recording the data daily. This allows us to set the program moving forward.

“Recording at least four training sessions per week, we can define the internal load that the team has accumulated. I want to thank the Club, that allows me to have a person dedicated. As the plan to expand the data collection to the youth sector progresses, the aim is to create profiles for each individual athlete by collecting the data that reveals their sporting history within Bertram Derthona Basket.”
