Firstbeat Sports – known for combining comprehensive analytics in team sports with a customizable interface to support real-time monitoring, recovery monitoring, and performance management- is excited to announce a new integration with Garmin, offering elite sports teams deeper insights into athlete recovery.
Customers of Firstbeat Sports can now seamlessly access sleep and overnight recovery data collected from compatible Garmin wearables directly within the Firstbeat Sports platform.
This integration enables coaching and performance staff to combine Firstbeat’s industry-leading physiological data with Garmin’s sleep analytics, bringing a more complete picture of athlete readiness into daily decision-making.
New Garmin Sleep Metrics Now Available in Firstbeat Sports
Athletes wearing supported Garmin devices can now automatically sync the following overnight metrics:
- Sleep Duration
- Sleep Score
- Resting Heart Rate (bpm)
- Average Last Night HRV
- Peak 5-minute Last Night HRV
(Available metrics vary depending on the Garmin device model.)
These data points complement core Firstbeat Sports metrics by helping coaches identify whether athletes are recovering adequately between sessions, adapting to training loads, and managing travel, competition schedules, or lifestyle stressors.
A More Complete View of Athlete Readiness
By combining Firstbeat’s physiological data insights and Garmin sleep data, teams can get a more holistic and objective view of recovery, helping coaches to:
- Spot early signs of accumulated fatigue
- Tailor daily training loads based on recovery status
- Support return-to-play processes with richer context
- Improve communication and decision-making between performance staff and athletes
Simple to Activate
Teams can begin using Garmin sleep data by ensuring athletes have compatible Garmin devices and enabling the Garmin Connect integration in Firstbeat Sports. After activation, data syncs automatically, making it easy for staff to incorporate recovery insights into their workflow.
