Firstbeat Recognized with National Entrepreneurial Award by the Federation of Finnish Enterprises

Oct 8 2016 in News

Firstbeat Technologies has been awarded the National Entrepreneurial Award by Yrittäjät, the Federation of Finnish Enterprises. Yrittäjät, the largest business federation in Finland, is comprised of over 115,000 member firms from across Finland. These members represent interests across the business spectrum, as they work together to raise political and public awareness of issues facing small and medium-sized enterprises in Finland.

Yrittäjät works to highlight the instrumental role that entrepreneurship plays in building a healthy, robust economy and making vital contributions to society as a whole.

Award decisions are determined by an 8-member panel comprised of representatives from the Federation of Finnish Enterprises, Fennia Group and select business leaders. The award has been presented annually since 1968. Selection criteria include recent growth rates and areas,  product ideas, originality, and continuous self-development. Special consideration is given to international competitiveness and market significance.

Firstbeat Founder/CEO Joni Kettunen commented:
“We are very proud to receive this significant, once in a lifetime acknowledgement, as it underlines our development into a world class company within the health and sports analytics arena. Our very skilled team shares expertise and passion to provide best-in-class solutions for health and sports, taking steps towards our long-standing goal of helping people to achieve their ambitions and improve their lives.

When we founded Firstbeat, we hoped to use heart rate variability as a window to map human physiology in a detailed, personal way, and we were inspired by the potential of creating a digital picture of our bodies. It was shortly later, when we began to understand the health, fitness, and performance applications our models, that we recognized the full potential impact of our work to improve lives.

And this exactly what we have been doing, in ever greater scale, through cooperation with our many partners.  A growing number of consumers around the world are gaining access to our technology, opening the door of possibility, discovering new ways to examine and lifestyle and sports performance questions. We have seen some wonderful results in the form of improved personal health, workplace productivity, people getting more fit, and athletes winning medals on the biggest stages.

We feel, see, and know, today, that we are on the verge of a great breakthrough that will have a lasting impact on how we imagine and understand ourselves.”

This is what inspires us to explore the next frontiers.

Firstbeat VP of Wellness Technologies Juho Tuppurainen commented:
“It is a privilege to be involved in this project that supports the well-being of millions of people. Our solutions benefit so many, because in working life and elite sports alike, personal well-being is the foundation of operational and financial performance. When individuals thrive, organizations succeed.

This award, of course, also reflects the great work done by the entire Firstbeat team. We strive everyday to be among the best in the world at what we do, and yet, it is still humbling to be honored with this rare award.”
