AFL’s Sydney Swans Confirms Three-Year Partnership with Firstbeat Sports

The Sydney Swans have entered a three-year partnership with Firstbeat Sports which will see them utilize the athlete performance management platform for its professional men’s team.

Having already established its expertise with other AFL teams, the 2023-24 season will mark the first time that the Sydney Swans use the Firstbeat platform as a new Premium+ customer. On the partnership, Drew Arthurson, Chief Operating Officer at the Sydney Swans says:

“The Sydney Swans made an intentional decision to deploy Firstbeat for its men’s professional team in the 2023-24 season, to provide the Club with real-time data on internal load and help inform its decision-making in terms of player management.”

Firstbeat’s internal load data offers coaches a detailed overview of training load, providing a more in-depth understanding of the physiological stress experienced by athletes during training sessions. This quantitative data not only gauges the effectiveness of training but is particularly crucial in the context of the demanding physiological requirements of AFL.
