Join Dr. Laura Bowen, Lead Physical Performance Coach at Tottenham Hotspur Women, and Jo Clubb, Sports Science Consultant, as they explore load monitoring in professional women’s football: what to measure, why it matters, and when and how to use the insights to inform training decisions.
During this live session, Laura and Jo will discuss:

- How she determines each player’s maximum heart rate

About Laura:
Dr Laura Bowen is Lead Physical Performance Coach at Tottenham Hotspur Women, where she leads the physical performance programme for the women’s pathway, overseeing physical preparation, training periodisation, load management and individual player development.
Laura has extensive experience across both the men’s and women’s professional game, having previously held a similar role with Southampton FC Women following several years as a Sport Scientist with Southampton FC’s men’s first team and Aston Villa’s boy’s academy.
Alongside her club role, Laura works as a consultant for FIFA, supporting the development of physical performance practice within the international women’s game. Her work has included supporting the New Zealand Women’s National Team ahead of the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup and mentoring and developing practitioners through FIFA’s Women’s National Teams Physical Preparation Programme.
Laura holds a PhD from the University of Birmingham, where her research focused on training and match workloads and injury risk in Premier League football.

Jo Clubb is an international Sports Science Consultant. Her company, Global Performance Insights, provides sports science support to professional teams, practitioners, governing bodies, and sports tech companies around the world.
Previously, she worked as an Applied Sports Scientist for the Buffalo Bills in the NFL, Buffalo Sabres in the NHL, as well as Chelsea Football Club and Brighton and Hove Albion in English soccer. She shares sports science education through her Global Performance Insights blog, YouTube channel, as well as scientific publications and textbooks.
