Recorded Webinar – Recorded on 30 Oct 2025

Monitoring Adaptations Using HR Responses to Submaximal Exercise

Hosted by Martin Buchheit

Hosted by Dr Shaun McLaren

Hosted by Tzlil Shushan

In this two-part free-to-attend Firstbeat webinar series, renowned Sport Scientists Martin Buchheit, Tzlil Shushan, and Shaun McLaren will present their insights and findings on 20 years of research on HR responses to submaximal exercise as a measure of adaptation.

Why Submaximal Testing?

Pushing athletes to the limit by testing maximum performance capacities is not only exhaustive but also time-consuming and impractical, particularly during a busy season.

Submaximal testing approaches have become more popular in recent years and are particularly beneficial in team sport environments. The low physiological cost of submaximal tests allows for frequent assessments without disrupting regular training or inducing fatigue.
